LilyPad Accelerometer - ADXL335
This is a three-axis accelerometer for the LilyPad system. Depending on the ADXL335 MEMS accelerometer from Analog Devices, the LilyPad Accelerometer can detect joint motion as well as tilt and vibration. The ADXL335 outputs a 0V to 3V analog signal to each of the X, Y and Z axes. You will need to convert this analog voltage to the amount of gravity and use trigonometry to calculate a true 'angle'. If you are not looking for inclination, this sensor is very easy to use for basic motion detection. LilyPad is a wearable e-textile technology developed by Leah Buechley and co-designed by Leah and SparkFun. Each LilyPad is creatively designed to have large attachment pads to allow them to be sewn to clothing. Various input, output, power and sensor cards are available. They can be washed!
